Deutsche Bank's "Artist of the Year" 2018/19
In her work Caline Aoun, who was born in Beirut in 1983, combines minimalist strategies and conceptual art with the question of how digital technologies alter our perception of images and information. The artist focuses particularly on the flood of images resulting from the digitalization of our globalized world. In her artistic practice, Aoun deals with materiality and “digitality,” with abstraction and concreteness, as well as with the discrepancy between the human imagination and sensual experience.
The exhibition at the PalaisPopulaire, which was shown previously at MAXXI in Rome, is the first large solo presentation of the Lebanese artist in Germany.
